FAQ

  • What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

CBT is an evidence-based treatment used to help change patterns of negative thinking, emotions, and behaviors. This treatment uses structured sessions that include homework to help clients meet goals created with their therapist. CBT is goal oriented and can be a brief therapy. It is used to treat a wide range of issues: depression, OCD, anxiety, eating disorders, sleep disorders, etc..

  • What is ERP?

ERP is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that is often the first line of treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This treatment helps you to gradually expose yourself to your fears while not engaging in any compulsive or ritualistic behaviors. It is currently considered the best treatment for OCD. ERP is also used when treating other anxiety disorders.

  • Why don't OCD therapists take insurance?

OCD therapists as well as other types of specialists spend extensive time and financial resources on training. When therapists and other providers accept insurance they are held captive by what the insurance wants to pay them, as well as the amount of time that can be spent with a client, and auditing of charts.

Using an out of network provider/non-participating provider is an opportunity for you and your therapist to have more freedom in your care.
